Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG) is a natural gas distribution company that delivers natural gas and energy services to more than 165,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in the Greater Hartford area and Greenwich, Connecticut areas. CNG is a subsidiary of UIL Holdings Corporation, headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut. UIL acquired CNG from Iberdrola SA, a global energy company headquartered in Bilbao, Spain, in 2010. Through its predecessor company, Hartford City Light, CNG has served central Connecticut for more than 160 years. CNG’s service territory in Connecticut includes the cities of Hartford and New Britain, Connecticut, as well as the communities of Avon, Berlin, Bloomfield, Canton, East Hartford, Farmington, Glastonbury, Manchester, Newington, Rocky Hill, Simsbury, Unionville, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor in Hartford County; Hebron and Mansfield in Tolland County; Portland in Middlesex County and Greenwich in lower Fairfield County. CNG currently maintains an operations center and administrative offices in East Hartford; a satellite office in Greenwich and a liquid natural gas storage facility in Rocky Hill. CNG aggressively pursues emerging new clean-energy technologies, such as distributed generation, to help its business partners utilize clean natural gas energy to reduce operating costs while achieving “green energy” initiatives.
